I can’t recommend Barrie Robertson highly enough. He is, quite simply, a brilliant Pilates instructor with an extraordinary understanding of the human body. Barrie seems to know your body better than you do — he can take one look at you and immediately identify what’s going on.

At just 26 years old, I was facing knee surgery on both knees. I was in constant pain and felt defeated. Barrie worked with me consistently through Pilates, carefully strengthening and correcting the underlying issues. Because of his expertise, I was able to avoid surgery altogether. Today, I walk without pain and feel stronger than ever — something I genuinely didn’t think was possible at the time.

On another occasion, I was suffering from intense pain running from my neck down into my arm. Barrie calmly assessed me via zoom and said he suspected it was related to disc damage from an old injury. After having an MRI, that’s exactly what it turned out to be. His knowledge and intuition are truly remarkable.

What makes Barrie so special is not just his technical skill, but the way he makes you feel. You walk away from every session feeling stronger, more aligned, and genuinely good about yourself and your body. He doesn’t just teach Pilates — he restores confidence and wellbeing.

Barrie is amazing, and I’m incredibly grateful for the difference he’s made in my life.

I first started pilates with Barrie as I was plagued by injuries from rugby, soccer and wakeboarding. Back then, due to a slipped disc in my neck, I couldn't even stretch my neck to look down without feeling some tension. 

Learning pilates from Barrie was pivotal in gaining control over my health and hence my life. At class he taught me how to have more body awareness so that I was able to practise pilates not just while at his class but in my everyday activities at work, at home or whilst doing sports.
